I’ve been listening to Danielle Ate the Sandwich’s music ever since I discovered her on YouTube back in college. A friend introduced me to Danielle’s music, and I instantly fell in love with her quirky sense of humor and to make the ukulele sound fitting and irreplaceable for any song she wrote and covered. Two years ago she toured to my hometown of Pittsburgh and I was able to attend her show! Being 100% ecstatic and fangirl-like I got her autograph, exchanged a few sentences, and parted ways. When I saw that she was coming to Pittsburgh again this summer, I felt that I had to reach out to her as this was a ukulele infused opportunity that I couldn’t pass up! I sent her a Facebook message out the blue asking if she needed a place to stay while she was in Pittsburgh, and if she’d be open to doing a portrait session with me while she was here. I wasn’t expecting a reply back, I mean, who really responds random Facebook messages from complete strangers? But to my surprise she said yes to both!

I had the honor of hosting her at my apartment and doing an on-location photo session with her. Upon her arrival we immediately began chit chatting and found out that we had a lot in common, it was like being united with a long lost friend. I am thankful that my photography has given me opportunities to connect with people that I never thought would be possible. It has truly been a great experience to work with such a talented musician and a personal idol of mine.
